What are the system requirements for the online edition of TurboTax?

On recent versions of Windows or Mac OS X, you can use TurboTax Online through most web browsers such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, and so on. If you are using an older version of an operating system, consult the list below to ensure that TurboTax Online can be used through the versions of the browsers you have installed on your computer.

Important: If you disabled cookies or JavaScript in your browser, you need to enable them. If you want to print your tax return, you need Adobe Reader or a suitable alternative to view and print PDF files.

Microsoft Windows 7 or later

Although Microsoft Windows users can use TurboTax Online through all browser versions specified in the list below, to protect yourself from security vulnerabilities, consider using only the latest version of browsers that are actively supported by their publisher.

  • Google Chrome 30 or later
  • Mozilla Firefox 27 or later
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or later
  • Microsoft Edge

Windows XP and Vista users

Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP and Vista. Makers of commonly used web browsers no longer support their browsers on these operating systems. While you might be able to use TurboTax Online on Windows XP or Vista by downloading and installing the last available version of Mozilla Firefox for these operating systems, do so at your own risk. Accessing the Internet from outdated operating systems and browsers exposes your computer to serious security vulnerabilities.

Mac OS X

Mac users can use any browser from the list below to access TurboTax Online:

  • Google Chrome 30 or later
  • Apple Safari 7 or later
  • Mozilla Firefox 27 or later

Note: Only Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or later is supported.
