How do I enter a T4A (and matching RL-1/RL-2, if applicable)?

T4A slips show income received from the following sources:

  • pension plans
  • annuities
  • retirement allowances (including severance pay)
  • death benefits
  • accumulated income payments
  • wage-loss replacement plans
  • research grants
  • scholarships & bursaries
  • lump-sum payments from deferred profit-sharing plans
  • medical premiums, and
  • self-employed commission income

 

In online editions of TurboTax

  1. In the upper-right corner of your screen, select Find*.
  2. In the Find window, type T4A and select Go.
  3. On the T4A - Summary step, select Enter New T4A.
  4. Enter your amounts and select Done with T4A**.

** Residents of Québec: You'll also need to add the amounts from the RL-1 or RL-2 slip you were issued to match your T4A slip. Select either the Enter Relevé 1 or Enter Relevé 2 button accordingly.

 

In CD/download editions of TurboTax

  1. In the upper-right corner of your screen, select Find*.
  2. In the Find window, type T4A, select T4A from the list and then select Go.
  3. On the Entering your federal T-slips step, check T4A and select Continue.

 

 

Note: Some boxes on your paper slip are included for identification purposes and are not required to calculate your taxes.

* If you don’t see the Find button, you may not have completed the Setting Up/Introduction section of your return. Continue through the Setting Up section until the Find button appears.
