OHIP biweekly deduction

My payroll stub has a bi weekly health premium deduction taken off.  I do not pay into group benefits and it is not shown on my T4. My employer said this is a new thing and it is for Ontario OHIP deductions.  When I file my taxes, an OHIP amount is taken by my net income. Why I am paying it as a biweekly payroll deduction also?

OHIP biweekly deduction

You pay the health premium if you are a resident of Ontario and your employment or pension income is more than $20,000 a year. In most cases the premium is automatically deducted from your pay or pension. It is included as part of the income taxes deduction on your pay stub.
