I've entered a number of expenses into TurboTax download version and am unable to recreate your issue (The expenses I entered appear properly on the lower-income spouse's return). There are a few reasons why your childcare expenses may not be posting on line 214:

I am having a similar (probably the same) error. It looks like the T778 form is under my spouse's name when it was me who claimed the childcare expenses. I would have been able to go right to netfile without anything being flagged that the childcare expenses entered through easy step aren't even transferred to our tax returns!

This wouldn't be the first time with quicktax/turbotax that certain spousal assumptions appear hard-coded into who is the "primary" return and who is the "spousal" return.

Did you ever resolve your issue?

There are CRA guidelines for who can claim the child care expenses. So it does not matter under whose return you complete the T778 form, the software will optimize automatically to follow the CRA guidelines. If the parents are living together as married or common law and the children are living with them, regardless of who pays the child care expenses, the parent with the lower income will claim the amount.

There are some restrictions to these guidelines, which are indicated on the T778 form. Please check the following link for more clarification:

I hope this was helpful
