How do I handle a 1042-S on stocks in my RRSP account in the Standard package? Do I also have to file a 1040 with the IRS or is this handled through my CRA filing?

The 1042-S is for an American stock held within my RRSP, and the funds are dividends received less 'Tax withheld by other agents", section 8. Unsure of how to handle foreign income on the T1, as well as whether or not to file a IRS 1040/etc.

  • It’s all done under the Income tab – Tslips – Foreign Income.

Also, enter any taxes paid to the US as well.
