I have no income and my husband and I have separate RRSP's. Since, my husband makes the income can he claim the amount that has been put in my RRSP?

I know it will lower his RRSP deduction limit. But the RRSP is in my name only.

If your husband purchased a "Spousal RRSP" in your name, he can claim it on his tax return. If he simply gave you the money to put into an RRSP where you are the "Annuitant", then he cannot.

The spouse who "Contributed" to the RRSP claims the deduction on their tax return. Your RRSP Contribution Slip should be marked with the Contributor and the Annuitant.

Spousal RRSPs are treated the same as a regular RRSP contribution when purchased, with the purchaser's RRSP limit defining how much can be purchased and the purchaser also claiming the deduction on their tax return.
