I am confused how to determine my fiscal year dates, I am first time using this program to file my taxes on my own.

Normally, your fiscal year would be the same as a regular year – Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. If you started or closed your business during the year you would change the date to reflect that. So if you began your business at the start of May, your fiscal year for 2018 would be May 1 to Dec. 31.
