I was married at dec 31 2017 but I got divorced in sept 2018, we were not separated in 2017 .

 I was married at dec 31 2017   but I got divorced in sept 2018, we were not separated in 2017 .When I chose married at dec 31 2017 it ask my ex info. And after I can add the divorced date. It's that the correct way?

If you are completing your 2018 income tax return- you must enter your marital status as of December 31st, 2018. So you will put "divorced" Then it asks "Did you get divorced in 2018" you put "YES" Then it asks the day and month of the divorce and What was your marital status before the change? - enter married if there was no legal separation.
