I have been locked out of my cra account. I am trying to access my 2019 NOA. I need line 150 of my 2018 return in order to access my account. How do I get this number?

I cannot get line 150 of my previous return without accessing my account. However I cannot access the account without this number. I am currently in tears. I was given no explanation for why I was locked out of my account.

Answer

Line 150 of your tax return can be located in a number of ways

  1. by signing into your TurboTax account (or, if you used the CD/download version of TurboTax to prepare your return, opening the software installed on your computer). Once you've logged on or opened your copy of TurboTax, open your return from the list of returns that appears. Use the Find button to search/select the option for Detailed Tax Summary. The DTS displays all of your information line by line.
  2. by viewing the PDF copy of your filed return you saved when you finished your return initially.
  3. by calling the Canada Revenue Agency directly. In addition to your Social Insurance Number and postal code, you will be asked to provide additional information for security purposes. Since you cannot access your most recent return, you can provide an alternate figure such as the amount of your most recent GST/HST benefit or Canada Child benefit payment.

Here's how to access your TurboTax Online account:

Important note: If the tax return you are looking for was filed using the CD/download edition of TurboTax, it will not appear in your TurboTax Online account. If you want to transfer information from a return in the CD/download edition to the online edition, here's how.

Tax year 2018 and 2017 returns

  1. Sign in to TurboTax Online.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, look for the section called Access your filed tax returns and select Open.

This is where you’ll find the PDF copies of your filed returns.

Tax year 2016 and prior-years returns

TurboTax didn’t have the same PDF capabilities for those years. If you want a copy, you can still access your returns and print them. See how to save and print a tax return from a prior year of the online edition of TurboTax.

Important notes

  • TurboTax customers using a paid product: We save your filed returns in your TurboTax Online account. You can access them for up to 7 years.
  • TurboTax customers using the free product: The PDF feature is not available in the Free version unless you added PLUS to your return.

People come to TurboTax AnswerXchange for help and answers—we want to let them know that we're here to listen and share our knowledge. We do that with the style and format of our responses. Here are five guidelines:

  1. Keep it conversational. When answering questions, write like you speak. Imagine you're explaining something to a trusted friend, using simple, everyday language. Avoid jargon and technical terms when possible. When no other word will do, explain technical terms in plain English.
  2. Be clear and state the answer right up front. Ask yourself what specific information the person really needs and then provide it. Stick to the topic and avoid unnecessary details. Break information down into a numbered or bulleted list and highlight the most important details in bold.
  3. Be concise. Aim for no more than two short sentences in a paragraph, and try to keep paragraphs to two lines. A wall of text can look intimidating and many won't read it, so break it up. It's okay to link to other resources for more details, but avoid giving answers that contain little more than a link.
  4. Be a good listener. When people post very general questions, take a second to try to understand what they're really looking for. Then, provide a response that guides them to the best possible outcome.
  5. Be encouraging and positive. Look for ways to eliminate uncertainty by anticipating people's concerns. Make it apparent that we really like helping them achieve positive outcomes.
