Is it possible you're not signing into TurboTax for tax year 2017 with the same username and password you used last year?

When you do, when you select the button to start a new return, TurboTax will prompt you to transfer in your info from last year.

Great, but how do you correct that after you've completed your tax return (but have not yet filed)

Unfortunately, you can't. One can only transfer from the prior year right at the beginning of a new return.
