How do I claim the Ontario Jobs Training Tax Credit?
by TurboTax• Updated 1 week ago
The Ontario Jobs Training Tax Credit (OJTTC) is a temporary credit for tax years 2021 and 2022 to help workers retrain, improve their skills, or prepare for a career shift. If you qualify for the credit, you can claim 50% of your eligible expenses on your personal income tax return, up to a maximum of $2,000.
The eligibility requirements are the same as those for the federal Canada Training Credit. To claim the OJTTC, you must meet all of the following conditions:
- Your Canada training credit limit for the year is more than zero. Find your limit on your latest notice of assessment or reassessment
- You were an Ontario resident at the end of the year
- You were between 26 and 65 years old at the end of the year
- Fees were paid either to an eligible institution for courses you took during the year or to certain bodies for an occupational, trade, or professional exam
- The fees are also eligible for the tuition tax credit
