How do I fix NETFILE error code 2130?
by TurboTax•7• Updated 2 weeks ago
If you get NETFILE error code 2130 it means the CRA’s records have an immigration date in the current tax year, but no immigration date was entered on the return being filed.
To fix this:
If you became a Canadian resident during the current tax year, and you're using TurboTax Online
- At 2025 tax return select Personal info > Edit.
- At Your personal info summary, beside Canadian residency, select Edit.
- At Did you move to or away from Canada in 2024? select Yes.
- At Tell us about your move:
- Under Did you move to Canada in 2025? ensure that Yes is selected.
- Enter your date of entry into Canada
- Ensure that your income from Canadian and foreign sources for the time that you weren't a resident of Canada is entered. If your income was zero, make sure it indicates this.
- Select Continue.
If you became a Canadian resident during the current tax year, and you're using TurboTax Desktop
- From the side menu select Introduction > Contact info.
- At Information for [your name] under Residency Changes:
- Ensure Yes is selected.
- Ensure your date of entry into Canada is entered.
- Ensure your income from Canadian and foreign sources for the time that you weren't a resident of Canada is entered. If your income was zero, make sure it indicates this.
- Select Continue.
If your Canadian residency didn't change during the tax year
Near the start of the TurboTax EasyStep interview, where you entered your personal and residency information, ensure you’ve indicated that no change occurred. If your residency information in TurboTax is correct but you still get the error code, contact the CRA.
