by TurboTax12 Updated about 11 hours ago

To enter medical expenses for dependants aged 18 years or over, you'll first have to enter the dependant's info, including their net income, into your TurboTax file.

Then, separate and add up the medical expenses you paid for each dependant aged 18 or over.

  1. Answer the initial Personal info interview questions if you haven't already. This unlocks 2024 tax return
  2. From 2024 tax return, under Add to your return, enter medical and select Medical Expenses.
  3. At Your Medical Profile, select any applicable boxes, including You paid medical expenses for a dependant (other than your spouse or children under 18 years of age), then continue.
  4. At Medical Expense For Other Dependants, complete the table.
    • Note: Pay careful attention to the instructions provided regarding when and how to combine receipts
  1. From the menu, select Deductions & Credits, then Medical expenses profile.
  2. At Your medical profile, select You paid medical expenses for a dependant (other than your spouse or children under 18 years of age) and continue.
  3. At Dependant Medical Expense, enter the amount of expenses being claimed, and any extra allowable provincial portion.
