How do I save a PDF copy of my tax return in TurboTax CD/Download?

SOLVEDby TurboTax198Updated January 13, 2023

The copy you save as a PDF is for your records only. If you want an additional copy to mail to the CRA, TurboTax will give you the option to create one only when using NETFILE.

First, you'll need to make sure you complete the Review portion of your return in TurboTax. During this process, you will be asked if you want to Save a copy of your return for your records. Refer to the instructions provided to learn how to save a copy of your return:

  1. From the menu, select REVIEW, then Print personal return or forms. The Save a copy of your return for your records step appears
  2. Select Federal tax return
  3. Select Save PDF Copy for Your Records. The Save As box opens
  4. In the Save As box, select the location where you want to save the file, then select Save (For example, select Desktop if you want to save the file to your Desktop)

Note: The default file name is your First Name followed by the four digits representing the tax year, and copy means it’s a copy of your tax return for your personal records. You can rename the file by entering a new file name in the File name text box.
