Where do I enter political contributions?

You can claim contributions made in the current tax year to registered federal or provincial political parties or to federal or provincial election candidate(s).

You can't claim political contributions made to a candidate or party in a municipal election unless you live in Québec.

Important: You can't carry forward political contributions to a future year, so be sure to claim the full amount in the year you made them.

  1. Select Find (or the magnifying glass icon) from the menu.
  2. Type political contributions and select Go.
  3. On the Political Contributions step, enter your amounts.
  1. From the menu, select PROFILE and then the name of your profile.
  2. In your profile, select Continue to get to the second page.
  3. Answer Yes to the question Did you make donations to a charity or political party?
  4. Select I made political donations, then Continue.
  5. Select Find (or the magnifying glass icon) from the menu.
  6. Type political contributions and select Go.
  7. On the Political Contributions step, enter your amounts.
