In TurboTax Online:
- Select Find in the upper-right hand corner.
- Type Political Contributions and select Go.
- On the Political Contributions step, enter your amounts.
In TurboTax CD/Download:
- In the menu on the left, select PROFILE and then select your profile.
- In your profile, select Continue to get to the second page.
- Answer Yes to the question Did you make donations to a charity or political party?
- Check I made political donations and select Continue.
- Select Find in the upper-right hand corner.
- Type Political Contributions and select Go.
- On the Political Contributions step, enter your amounts.
You can claim contributions made to registered federal or provincial political parties, or to a federal or provincial election candidate or candidates made in the current tax year.
You can't claim political contributions made to a candidate or party in a municipal election unless you live in Québec.
Important: You can't carry forward political contributions to a future year, so be sure to claim the full amount in the year you made them.
