TurboTax 2024 requires a final version

Hello,

I just purchased the turbotax software this month (Feb 2025). I installed it with the code that came with the box and registered the product successfully. However, when I try to save my forms as a PDF or print them, I am met with an error that states:

"At the time of manufacturing this product, the government had not finalized all of its forms. You will require a final version of your form(s) prior to submitting your return(s). You can obtain the final versions as they become available by selecting Check for Updates from the Help menu, any time after beginning of Jan, 2025."

I followed the instructions above, but the software reports that it's up to date but the error persists.

Can anyone provide a solution to this?

You cannot print or Netfile any forms at this time as CRA has not finalized all the forms yet. Netfile is closed and will reopen on the 24th of February, 2025. Once CRA updates the forms we will also update them on our end. We do require the correct and final versions of forms for 2025 from CRA to update it within the TurboTax.

Please refer to this CRA link for more information.

Thanks for choosing TurboTax.

Reply is unclear. If CRA opens Feb 24 for online filing are you saying you still dont have final forms and so TurboTax will not be ready on Feb 24 to allow me to submit thru Netfile?

I have exactly the same problem- very frustrating. Have never seen this before in 20 years of using.

As per the CRA: The CRA is working diligently to update its systems to reflect the currently enacted capital gains inclusion rate of one-half. However, this update may not be completed when online filing becomes available on February 24, 2025. If you are impacted by this situation, you may avoid processing delays by waiting until the updates are completed in the coming weeks before filing your income tax and benefit return. The CRA will grant relief in respect of late-filing penalties and interest until June 2, 2025, for Individual filers and until May 1, 2025, for Trust filers, to provide additional time for taxpayers reporting capital gains to meet their tax filing obligations.

TurboTax FAQ: Why does TurboTax say my forms are locked or haven't been finalized?

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

Classical case of blame shifting.

Its not CRA but Inuit having not finalized the forms.

I use TurboTax for 10 years and every year it is the same spiel.

Come Tax Day Turbotax is not ready.

Why I am still using TurboTax? It gives me the most refund, but this lying about forms is disheartening..

HERE IS WHY: TURBOTAX FILLS THE FORMS IN THE SOFTWARE AND THEN THE DATA IS TRANSMITTED TO CRA.

AT NO POINT THERE ARE FORMS ON THE CRA END TO BE USED. ITS ALL ON THE TURBOTAX END.

Turbotax is lying.

I have dumped the 2024 Standard Version and filed with UFile, same numbers nothing different, and it went through with no problems.

I am having the same issue. Been using Turbotax for many years and have never had this issue. It won't even let me save a PDF copy of a file that we have already submitted to the CRA via Netfile. I'm not sure what's going on but I hope they do a fix for it soon.

Unfortunately, that doesn't apply. Mine is doing it on March 1, 2025. As I put in my original post, it won't even let me save a PDF copy of a file that was already transmitted and accepted by the CRA on February 25th. Please advise if this is a software issue or if you're working on an update, or if we have to reinstall the program??

Thanks,

I haven't completed yet but be able to save as PDF.

So you went all the way and submitted to CRA but under able to save as PDF, with the same error as mine?

Have same frustration and hearing so many different stores. Neighbor used Ufile and was able to Netfile. Son used Wealthsimple and he finished up and Netfiled last week. What gives?

Yes, we did. I keep PDF copies for my records for others in the family, and so far, I haven't been able to save a PDF for any files. It keeps giving me the same message as you, with the Box lined in red regarding the government updating its files.

Hopefully Intuit (Turbotax) will put out a fix for this, fingers crossed.
