Depending on your source of income and your expenses, the software will recommend the appropriate version that suits your status.  If you input an amount in Box 20 or 48 of a T4A slip, it will be viewed as self-employment income. 

If you have some self-employments expenses and/or income, you will need to complete your income tax return with the self-employment version for TurboTax.
