It is my first time filling my tax. I am not sure if I should have done it for the previous year. I arrived in Canada (with work permit) in 27 Oct 2023. How to proceed?

Getting started
Your spouse needs to file her return separately even though she has no income, as per CRA rule. Claim this amount if, at any time in the year, you supported your spouse or common-law partner and their net income from line 23600 of their return (or the amount that it would be if your spouse or common-law partner filed a return) was less than your basic personal amount (plus $2,616 if your spouse or common-law partner was dependent on you because of an impairment in physical or mental functions). Line 30300 – Spouse or common-law partner amount
Refer to CRA articles in order to see if your spouse qualifies as an eligible dependent. Can you claim the amount for an eligible dependent?
You can prepare and file your 2023 return by using TurboTax Online or a Desktop version.
