Moved in Aug 2025 to Australia on a one year working holiday visa as an engineer, gained employment and income in 2025 from Sept-Dec, how do I account for this?
Is this reported as foreign income on this year tax return?
How do I ensure I am not double taxed on this income?
Should I wait until I have filed my Australian Tax Return (July 2026) to determine tax paid to Australia?

Getting started
If you remained a Canadian resident (i.e., kept strong ties to Canada), you must report your Sept–Dec 2025 Australian income as foreign income on your 2025 return and claim a foreign tax credit to avoid double taxation—you don’t need to wait for your Australian filing and can use withheld tax or estimates. However, if you became a non-resident after moving (cut ties and settled in Australia), you only report income up to your departure date and do not include the Australian income earned after leaving.
