Is it allowable to add employees portion of group benefits to the gross income?

T4 shows Gross Income including employee portion of group benefits. This portion is also shown in Box 40 as Other Amount.

Client was informed the this was shared between employer and employee. If this is the case, can the employee claim as private insurance portion on his taxes for 2018?

Premiums paid to a private health services plan, such as extended health benefits or a dental plan, other than those fees paid by an employer, qualify as medical expenses for purposes of the medical expense tax credit.  Fees paid for a provincial health care plan (such as BC medical service plan  or OHIP premiums) do not qualify. Many employees pay all or a portion of the premiums for their extended health benefits, with the premiums being deducted from their pay.

If the employee paid premium for health benefits is listed on t4. Does the turbo tax software automatically claim it or do I have to manually put it in under medical expense?
