Where do I enter eligible retiring allowance (severance) that has been transferred to an RRSP?

There are two steps to entering your eligible retiring allowance transferred to an RRSP:

  • First, you'll enter your T4 slip;
  • Then, you'll enter the transfer to your RRSP.

Enter your T4 slip:

  1. Select Find in the upper-right hand corner.
  2. In the Find window, type T4
  3. Select T4 from the list and then select Go.
  4. Enter the information exactly as it appears on your T-slip (your eligible retiring allowance is shown in box 66)

Enter your RRSP info:

  1. Select Find in the upper-right hand corner.
  2. In the Find window, type RRSP Profile
  3. Select RRSP Profile from the list and then select Go.
  4. On the Your RRSP Profile step, check Made RRSP Contributions during 2018 or the first 60 days of 2019, and then select Continue.
  5. On the What's your RRSP/PRPP deduction limit step, enter your deduction limit, and then select Continue.
  6. At the RRSP Contribution step, enter the amount of your eligible retirement allowance that you transferred to your RRSP, as shown on the receipt from your financial institution.
  7. If you're using a TurboTax CD/download edition: At Is this RRSP contribution a designated transfer of eligible income amount? If so, enter the amount that is a designated transfer, enter the same amount again.

* If you don't see the Find button, you may not have completed the Setting Up/Introduction step of your return. Continue through the Setting Up/Introduction step until the Find button appears.
