Who claims the rrsp in a spousal. I'm the registered owner and my husband is the contributer

When you file your income tax return, the spouse who "Contributed" (your husband) can claim the RRSP contributions as a tax deduction. The Contributor and the Annuitant should be indicated on our RRSP Contribution Slip.

 

Spousal RRSPs are treated the same as a regular RRSP contribution when purchased, with the purchaser's RRSP limit defining how much can be purchased and the purchaser also claiming the deduction on their tax return.
