How do I enter a T4A slip (and matching Relevé 1 / Relevé 2, if applicable)?

Note: Some of the fields on your slip may not be in TurboTax. You only need to enter the slip information that TurboTax asks for.

Instructions for the TurboTax online edition:

1.    Select the image of the magnifying glass (or Find) in the upper-right area of TurboTax

2.    Enter “T4A” in the Find window

3.    Select T4A Pension, Retirement, Annuity from the list of results, and then select Go

4.    Select Enter new T4A

The T4A - Pension, Retirement, Annuity, and Other Income step appears

5.    Fill out the form in TurboTax with the information from your slip

6.    Select Done with T4A

7.    Review the information on screen and follow the instructions below that match your situation

·       If the information is correct, select Done with T4A Slips.

·       If the information isn’t correct, select Edit next to the slip and correct the information. When you return to this step, select Done with T4A Slips

·       If you have more T4A slips to enter, select Enter new T4A. When you return to this step, select Done with T4A Slips

3.    Select T4A / Relevé 1 / Relevé 2 Pension, Retirement, Annuity from the list of results, and then select Go

5.    Fill out the form in TurboTax with the information from your slip

6.    Follow the instructions below that match your situation

·       If you have a Relevé 2, select Enter Relevé 2

·       If you have a Relevé 1, select Enter Relevé 1

7.    Fill out the form in TurboTax

8.    Follow the instructions below that match your situation

·       If you just entered a Relevé 2, select Done With T4A - Relevé 2

·       If you just entered a Relevé 1, select Save and Continue

9.    Review the information on screen and follow the instructions below that match your situation

·       If the information is correct, select Done with T4A, Relevé 1 and Relevé 2 Slips

·       If the information isn’t correct, select Edit next to the slip and correct the information. When you return to this step, select Done with T4A, Relevé 1 and Relevé 2 Slips

·       If you have more slips to enter, select Enter new T4A - Relevé 1 or Relevé 2. When you return to this step, select Done with T4A, Relevé 1 and Relevé 2 Slips.

Instructions for the TurboTax CD/download edition:

1.    Select the image of the magnifying glass (or Find) in the upper-right area of TurboTax

2.    Enter “T4A” in the Find window

3.    Select T4A Pension, retirement, annuity from the list of results, and then select Go

4.    Select T4A - Pension, Retirement, Annuity, and Other Income (including scholarships and bursaries)

5.    Select Continue

6.    Fill out the form in TurboTax with the information from your slip. If you have more T4A slips to claim, select Enter new T4A and fill out the form, repeating this step for each slip

7.    Select Done with T4A

8.    Review the information on screen and follow the instructions below that match your situation.

·       If the information is correct, select Done with T4A Slips

·       If the information isn’t correct, select Edit next to the slip and correct the information. When you return to this step, select Done with T4A Slips

·       If you have more T4A slips to enter, select Enter new T4A. When you return to this step, select Done with T4ASlips

·       If you have a Relevé 2, select Enter Relevé 2 and fill out the form in TurboTax

·       If you have a Relevé 1, select Enter Relevé 1 and fill out the form in TurboTax

·       If you just entered a Relevé 2, select Done With T4A - Relevé 2

·       If you just entered a Relevé 1, select Done With T4A - Relevé 1

8.    Review the information on screen and follow the instructions below that match your situation

·       If the information is correct, select Done with T4A, Relevé 1 and Relevé 2 Slips

·       If the information isn’t correct, select Edit next to the slip and correct the information. When you return to this step, select Done with T4A, Relevé 1 and Relevé 2 Slips

·       If you have more slips to enter, select Enter new T4A - Relevé 1 or Relevé 2. When you return to this step, select Done with T4A, Relevé 1 and Relevé 2 Slips
