When I try to enter the HST number of the hotel I stayed at on the ON479 worksheet I get an error message asking me to enter a numeric value. HST numbers include 'RT' in them If I remove the 'RT' then the entry is validated but it is not a valid HST number. When will this error be corrected so that I can file my return?
Please enter the number without the RT and leave a space then be certain to keep your receipts should the Canada Revenue Agency request them. We know of this issue and our TurboTax team is working on it.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
I don't think you understand the problem with the Staycation Credit. First of all, RT is part of the HST number and I was advised that the CRA will not accept filing with an invalid HST number. Secondly, I have been ready to file my return since February 20th but there is an alert on your netfile page to not file yet. This is the Alert: " Canada Revenue Agency has released new information for the Ontario Staycation tax credit that is not included into this release. If you are claiming this credit, we do not recommend you to Netfile at this time. The Ontario Staycation tax credit changes will be included into our next release." The RCA advises that they have approved all forms and it is up to TURBOTAX to update their software. When will you provide us with the release. There has been no new release since Monday... When is the next one planned?
A fix for the Staycation credit should be available by the end of this week.
It is now March 2/2023 and the error message still exists. What is the date for the new release?
Update just came through...all is good now.. thanks.
I am still having issues with this one (despite the update 2 minutes ago).
I am getting the error "Please enter a numeric value rounded to the nearest whole number"
Just use the first 9 digits of your HST/GST number.
I am still experiencing the same problem and my current program is up to date.
This error is still happening - April12, 2023
When will it be fixed?
ANy idea when this will be fixed? Still an issue April 12th
No problems here... Do you have a legal copy of the program...i.e. one that you paid for..?
YES I have a legal copy of the program. One that I paid for!
I suspect people with illegal copies would not post here
In that case you must be doing something wrong. You are the only one here "it seems" that cannot get it to work. Uninstall and re-install and just use the 9 numbers for the staycation HST/GST. No letters. That worked for me anyway... Don't know what else to tell you...
Yes. All of us that can't get the 15 characters entered are wrong. That's the only possible answer.
Oh, you are one of those from the "easily offended" group. I did not realize. In that case, good luck.
Yes I to need this fixed, just leaving out the alpha portion of the number is not a valid work around
It actually doesn't matter, as the info is only input to a worksheet, which isn't transmitted to CRA
Entered the full 15 character GST code into the description
We all know it is a software bug... just enter the numbers, instead of typing RT I put a space and filed like that .. worked for me.. got my refund..
Enter only the first nine digits of the GST/HST account number. Do not include letters.
A supplier must include the GST/HST account number on receipts, invoices, contracts, or other business papers it gives out when it supplies taxable goods or services of $30 or more.
If you can't find the GST/HST account number, contact your supplier. When your supplier does not provide their GST/HST account number, call the Canada Revenue Agency's Business enquiries line at [phone number removed] to confirm it is registered.
