Key dates in 2026 for 2025 income taxes

Here are some key dates to keep in mind in 2026 for the 2025 tax year.

February 24, 2026

The CRA’s NETFILE service for 2025 tax returns is available.

March 3, 2026

Last day to make an RRSP contribution for the 2025 tax year.

April 30, 2026

• Last day to file a 2025 income tax return without a late-filing penalty if there's a balance owing, unless you, or your spouse or common-law partner have self-employment income (see June 16).
• Last day to pay a balance owing on a 2025 income tax return (even if you or your spouse or common-law partner have self-employment income) to avoid commencement of interest charges.
• Last day to file an Underused Housing Tax tax return for tax year 2025.

June 16, 2026

Last day to file a 2025 income tax return without a late-filing ‌penalty if you, or your spouse or common-law partner have 2025 self-employment income.
