Where do I enter political contributions?

by TurboTax25 Updated 1 month ago

You can claim contributions to registered federal or provincial political parties or to federal or provincial election candidate(s). You can't claim political contributions made to a candidate or party in a municipal election. However, if you live in Québec, there's a provincial tax credit for municipal donations.

Note:You can't carry forward political contributions to a future year. Be sure to claim the full amount in the year you made them.

  1. Answer the initial Personal Info interview questions if you haven't already. This unlocks 2024 tax return.
  2. At 2024 tax return, under Add to your return, enter political and select Political Contributions.
  3. At Political Contributions, enter your amounts, then continue.
  1. From the menu, select Deductions & Credits > Payments Profile > Political contributions.
  2. At Political contributions, enter your donation amount. Then select Enter New Contribution or Done.
