How much can I claim for child care expenses?

If your child doesn't qualify for the Disability Tax Credit, the maximum you can claim is:

  • $8,000 per child age 6 and under

  • $5,000 per child age 7 to 15

  • $5,000 per child age 15 or older, with a physical or mental infirmity

If your child qualifies for the Disability Tax Credit, you can claim up to $10,000 per child, regardless of their age.

What if I live in Québec?

In Québec, you can receive an additional tax credit for child care expenses if you meet certain requirements.

The maximum amount you can claim for an eligible child for 2025is:

  • $11,935 per child age 6 and under

  • $6,010 per child age 7 to 15, or with a mental or physical impairment

  • $16,335 per child with a severe and prolonged impairment in mental or physical functions. regardless of age
