How do I claim the Yukon children's fitness tax credit?
by TurboTax• Updated 1 week ago
The Yukon fitness tax credit is available to parents of children who were enrolled in a prescribed physical activity program. Eligible costs include registration and membership for sports-related programs, up to $1,000 per eligible child for the 2024 tax year.
Note: Tax year 2016 was the last year to claim the children’s fitness tax credit at the federal level. The Yukon has maintained its equivalent provincial credit.
To qualify for the credit, your child must have been:
- Under 16 at the start of the tax year in which the fees were paid
- Under 18 if they’re eligible for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).
An additional $500 can be claimed for children with a disability, provided a minimum of $100 of the costs were incurred for membership or registration fees.
