For the northern residence travel deduction, does it make a difference to claim your children's trips under the higher income earner or lower income earner?

Since the Northern Residence Deduction reduces your taxable income, which lowers your tax liability; it would make more sense to include the Northern Residence Travel Deduction on the higher income earners' tax return.
