My separation agreement states that I can only claim 1/2 kids as dependant, do I still enter them as a dependant or is there a specific area that I do my claiming?

Do I still list both children as Dependents?  Or do I only list the one I am assigned to claim?

When you are separated, the rules about who qualifies as a dependant may change. If you were claiming a dependant on your taxes before the separation, you may be unable to claim that dependant now. The agreement needs to be followed therefore, you do not claim them.

Our TurboTax article  Can you still Claim Dependants After a Separation?. will give you more information as to the type of claim you can make when separated and living alone with a child.
