Where in the process of filing my taxes do I elect to "income splitting" with my common-law. I made significantly more money than he did last year and should be eligible.

If your are referring to qualifying pension income for splitting you can access the required input screens under the "Review" tab > "Spilt your pension with your spouse".

If you are thinking of the "Family Income Splitting" tax credit available from previous years, the new Federal Government cancelled that credit for 2016.

Other wise there is no way of splitting income on a tax return with a spouse.
