NETFILE error code 90317

This NETFILE error is given to notify you that you are not showing as registered with the Canada Employment Insurance Commission. In order to participate in the NETFILE program, you are required to have registered with the CEIC online, either during the current tax year or at an earlier time.
To address this issue:

  • If you have registered and you’ve indicated that on your return, the CRA requires you to file a paper return. In this case, print and mail your return to the CRA.
  • If you’re self-employed, make sure you select whether or not you registered to participate in the EI program for self-employed individuals. Do this when you enter your income and self-employment information.
