How can I use two different TurboTax services for myself and my wife. Hers is very straight forward and mine is complex. Only want to use advisor submitted for mine.
Myself, I have salaried income + self-employment with full expense profile etc.
How can I use the basic turbo tax filing for her, while leveraging the advisor completed turbo tax level for my filing.

Getting started
If you want to use 2 different versions of TurboTax for you and your spouse, then you will need to prepare your returns separately.
"Basic" is not available in TurboTax Online, it is only available in CD/Download form (for Windows).

The downside is that the program can't see your spouse's information. You'll have to manually enter your wife's info, and she will have to enter yours. You'll also have to figure out yourself who claims things like donations, medical expenses, etc...

@Prairie_Storm If you are preparing a joint return with your spouse, it will charge you for Deluxe Online version for both returns , as you will be using the same product to prepare & file the return. If you wish to use a Free Online version, you need to prepare a separate return for your spouse not a joint return.

If you use an offline version of TurboTax, can you file joint returns for spouses, and only pay the additional $40 cost for the one user who requires it for completing a T5008 form?

@jkinghorn If you use TurboTax Desktop, you will pay for a license good for a number of returns upfront. All versions of TurboTax Desktop have the same forms, so any version can do a return for someone with a T5008. We recommend using TurboTax Desktop Premier (or higher) as it provides more guidance regarding investments. But if you start with Basic or Standard, you can upgrade to Premier, but you'll be upgrading all the returns on that license.
Please note that TurboTax Desktop will only work on Windows PCs (Windows 11 recommended). Also you can't transfer or open your TurboTax Do It Yourself/Online returns in the Desktop software.
