Why can't I file my taxes for free like I did last year since nothing has changed?

I filed for free for the 2022 tax year, why can't I file for free in 2023 tax since nothing has changed?

Getting started

It depends on your tax return, If your return requires any additional forms or schedules which are not covered by the free edition, you need to upgrade to a paid version. There have been changes made to TurboTax Online as well. Please see these TurboTax FAQs for more information:

You can check under our Pricing system to see which part of your tax return resulted in an upgrade.
