How do we update the desktop version?

Getting started

Usually when you open turbotax desktop it asks you if you want to update automatically if there is one that’s available, but there should be an option in one of the top menus. I think it’s the help menu.

i updated my turbotax standard desktop for windows tonight and it said there was an update for the t1198 form, however using the easy steps there is no option for it and nothing shows up in any of the help

i called support and was told it’s supposed to be fixed by march 21st

FOR DESKTOP VERSION

So from what I can figure out after reading through the forum.  The T1198 was available under Easy Steps, and then removed.  Then in recent Update the form can be found in Forms Mode (not under Easy Steps)

The form does the math correctly, however you CAN NOT enter the correct year 2024.

It would be good to know when all this is up and running correctly and not half measures.  A date of the form being available and under easy steps allowing us to choose it as other income.

Let's hope this 21st date is with all the fixes.

@CRATaxWala

Latest update (Build 5005 068G23) allows 2024, and no need to "round up/down" - cents are allowed.

What still puzzles me, even if I deliberately change numbers to be not add up, no error messages appear...

And there seems to be no way to "finalize" the form (no "Save and close") like other Tslips, which may not be needed as it doesn't affect the overall return totals.

I did "Save Return as .PDF" and it was there however. Makes sense I guess, it has no effect on the return, it's just "info".

Getting started

Is this for the web or desktop. Desktop yesterday didn't allow for 2024.

I'll check again later.

@CRATaxWala

Desktop, it updated when I started it this a.m.

Getting started

@ToniAinamo No, you will need to print out and fill out the other one and send it into the Canada Revenue Agency.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

I don't see an option for T1198 in the "T-slips" section? (I'm using the downloaded desktop version.)
Can anyone give some instructions where to find it? Is it available within another T-slip heading?
Or, did the update not happen by the March 21 time frame that was mentioned in an earlier post?

Getting started

As of March 21, when I enter my info into TurboTax online (not desktop) it still tells me: "The total amount of payments received (box 65818) must equal the total principal plus interest amounts." There is no interest amount that is on the form provided by my workplace (School board). Why is this error still occuring? Thank you in advance

Getting started

@ALT2025 It's not a T-slip. Please search for "lump" in search bar at the top of the Tax Home page.

@amask2025 Please make sure that box 68519 is filled out, and that you've entered your amounts for whatever years you got them for.
