Getting started

Hi Susan - thanks so much for getting back to me.

Yes, I did note last year in 2023 TurboTax that I opened the FHSA and made no contribution.

Also, my 2023 NoA notes I have an FHSA carryforward for 2024 of $8,000 and an FHSA participation room for 2024 of $16,000.

On my 2024 return, on the FHSA data page, I've entered 0 for variable "B" (whatever that is) as that's what the 2023 NoA says, $8,000 for my FHSA carry forward amount, and zeroes for the other 5 fields on that page (transfers from RSPs, designated transfers out, annual 2023 FHSA limit, FHSA 2023 deduction, and unused FHSA contributions to deduct in future years) since there were no transfers in out to an RSP and I matched the zeroes shown on my 2023 NoA.

Then on the next page, FHSA deduction, the Turbo Tax screen says maximum available for 2024 of $8,000 instead of $16,000, even though the NoA also says I have FHSA participation room of $16,000.

This is what has me confused and frustrated.  The NoA says I can contribute $16,000 in 2024 but the way Turbo Tax asks the questions and the data it asks for (which ignores other data from the NoA) blocks me at just $8,000 and either ignores last year's $8,000 carry forward or is failing to give me the room for the 2024 contribution room of $8,000.

Is the problem with TurboTax or the data in the NoA and how do I correct it please?
Thanks again for your help.

Doug.
