I replaced my hard drive and re-installed prior year versions of the TurboTax software. How can I update those software versions so that I can open the old tax returns?
I need information from older returns to accurately prepare the 2022 return. For example, 2015 Turbotax. I would also appreciate if I can update the prior years' versions too.

The versions we have to download on our website are the most up to date versions, with all the updates applied. Please see this TurboTax Canada FAQ for the download links to current & past versions (2018 - 2024) of TurboTax Desktop: Where can I get the Download edition of TurboTax? As of December 2024, we no longer have download links for tax years 2018 or earlier.)
Please see this TurboTax Canada FAQ for more info on activating older versions of TurboTax Desktop (2018 & earlier): What if I have trouble with my licence code while setting up TurboTax Download?
If you need information from an older return and don't have the PDF archives saved for your records, you can get info through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)'s My Account service, or call them 1-800-959-8281 to request the info.

@Vast57 Unfortunately, as of December 2024 we no longer sell products for 2017 or earlier, but you can download the forms from the CRA here: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/tax-packages-years.html
You can see what we have for past years here: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax/software/prior-year-taxes
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

It would also be a good idea to let PAYING CUSTOMERS know where on the hard drive that the license key is stored, so that, with the old drive, we can obtain it so that we can re-activate on the new drive. Is this suggestion viable to allow me to locate license key for prior versions of Turbotax to reinstall on new computer

Getting started
@BarrySandercock The code is embedded in the software's local installation files or system settings (e.g., the Windows Registry) so that the program can verify its license each time it runs without requiring you to manually enter the code again.
When you install TurboTax Desktop (for 2023 and later versions), you are required to sign in to your Intuit Account. Your license code is associated with that account and stored there as well.
If you need to find your license code again, the best methods do not typically involve trying to extract it from the hard drive files, which can be difficult. Instead, you should:
- Check your Intuit Account: Sign in to your Intuit account on the TurboTax website and navigate to the Products and Billing section to view your saved license code.
