Getting started

You cannot file more than 20 returns using personal tax software, regardless of how much you are willing to pay. This is a hard limit set by the CRA for all NETFILE-certified software. The 20-return limit is not a TurboTax pricing policy; it is a mandatory requirement set by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

There is no "add-on" or extra fee that allows you to exceed the 20-return limit within the personal versions of TurboTax (Standard, Premier, Home & Business, etc.).

The limit per tax year is 20 returns per device.

Use Professional Software (EFILE): If you are preparing taxes for a fee or as a business, the CRA requires you to register as a tax preparer and use EFILE-certified software. For TurboTax, this would be ProTax (part of QuickBooks Online Accountant) or Profile. These versions do not have the 20-return limit but require a different registration process with the CRA.

Have the Individuals File Separately: If you are helping friends or extended family for free, those individuals can create their own TurboTax Online accounts to file their returns independently.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
