Getting started

For installation issues, make sure you are following these points:

 

You have administrator rights on the profile where you are installing TurboTax.

You're not attempting to install on the cloud.

Windows is up to date.

Turn off your antivirus software and Windows Defender before installing it, and then turn them back on afterward.

 

You can also try right-clicking the TurboTax 2025 icon and selecting "Run as administrator."

 

Windows 11 is much more aggressive with permissions than previous versions. Even if you are an Admin, the installer often needs an explicit nudge.

Find the .exe file you downloaded.

Right-click it and select Properties.

At the bottom of the "General" tab, look for a "Security" section that says, "This file came from another computer and might be blocked."  Check the Unblock box and hit Apply.

Now, right-click the file again and select Run as Administrator.
