Multiple Free Returns?
We have a large blended family. There are 3 children whose situations are such that they could file for free. There is another who would need the $21 version. Can I (Dad) use my TurboTax account and file these 4 returns for my kids, paying for the one who needs to pay?

Thank you. But if I attached my turbotax account to an activation code for 8 returns for example, then these returns that would have been free would be part of my 8? So really they aren't "free anymore"? Is this all correct. I find all the licensing choices confusing.

@nmrfreak If you are preparing a simple return that qualifies as 'Free,' it doesn't have to count toward your TurboTax Deluxe return limit. At checkout, you can choose to exclude that specific return from your paid package by checking the box as shown in the screenshot below

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

So if I understand correctly, what you are telling me is that if I prepare a free return or multiple free returns and afterwards I buy the online 8 return package, those already filed free returns do not need to be counted towards my return limit. I have to check that box you showed me at checkout.
Do I have that right?
Second, what about the other direction? What if I buy the online 8 return package first and afterwards prepare a return that is eligible to be free.

Getting started
The above instructions are given if you have already purchased TurboTax Online (DIY) 8 and activated the product by linking your account. Then at the checkout you will check that box so it won't use any of the 8 Deluxe returns that you have already paid for. Those free returns will not be counted towards your TurboTax Deluxe 8 package.
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) limits the number of tax returns that can be filed using NETFILE-certified software to a maximum of 20 returns per computer or online account per tax year.
You can only file 12 more returns (plus 8 Deluxe returns) if you bought TurboTax Deluxe for 8 returns. That makes 20 returns in all.
