Getting started

When TurboTax asks for your spouse's net income, it is referring to her 2025 income (the current year you are filing), not last year's. The CRA needs this amount to calculate your eligibility for certain family-based credits, like the Canada Child Benefit or the Spouse/Common-Law Partner Amount.

If your wife is also using TurboTax, she can look at her "View Detailed Tax Summary" (found at the top of the page) even before she officially files. Line 23600 is the number you need.

If her only income is from a job and she has no major deductions (like RRSP contributions or childcare), her net income will be very close to the Total Income on her T4 (usually Box 14).

You do not need a Notice of Assessment to enter this. You can enter an estimate now to continue your return. If her final 2025 net income ends up being different once she finishes her taxes, you should update the number in your return before you hit "Submit" to ensure your credits are calculated accurately.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
