Getting started

I was told to try these 3 methods, but none worked...

This is a known UI bug in the TurboTax Desktop software where the credit card expiration dropdown fails to register mouse clicks for months 09 through 12.

To bypass this restriction and enter "10," use one of the following keyboard-based workarounds:

Method 1: The "Tab and Type" Fix (Most Reliable)

Instead of clicking the dropdown menu, use your keyboard to force the input:

  1. Click into the Credit Card Number field.
  2. Press the Tab key on your keyboard once to jump to the Month field.
  3. Immediately type "10" (do not use your mouse).
  4. Press Tab again to move to the Year field.

Method 2: The Scroll and Enter Fix

If you have already opened the dropdown menu:

  1. Use your mouse scroll wheel or arrow keys to highlight "10."
  2. Do not click it with your mouse.
  3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard to select the highlighted month.

Method 3: The "CTRL" Shortcut

Some users have reported success by:

  1. Holding down the CTRL key on your keyboard.
  2. While holding CTRL, click the Expiration Month dropdown. This may force the UI to properly register your selection.
Note: If these methods still fail, some users found that entering a "wrong" month (like 02), letting it fail the validation check, and then re-entering the correct month sometimes "unlocks" the field for a second attempt.
