Is it okay to pay my income tax owed (via online payee) before actually filing my return?
Netfile isn't open for 2 more weeks but I want to sort out my (self-employed) cash flow asap. I can already see the 2017 CRA return listed as a payee in my online banking. Is there any harm in submitting payment before officially filing?

Getting started
You are able to send a payment to the Canada Revenue Agency ahead of time. Since they will not show you having a debt owing, it will most likely show on your account as a credit. You may want to follow up with them once you do NETFILE your income tax return to make sure that your credit is applied to your balance owing.
