To help with this, TurboTax is designed to provide upgrade notifications immediately whenever a specific tax situation (like certain forms or credits) requires a higher-tier version. This allows you to choose whether to proceed with the upgrade or explore other options before you finish your return. And these prompts appear before the checkout. It does not upgrade until you select or choose an upgrade to proceed. 

TurboTax optimized its editions to ensure that our customers are getting access to the forms needed to make the most out of every individual's tax situation and to respect the accuracy guarantee. 

Since certain claims/expenses were moved to the appropriate edition. TurboTax is better able to guide our customers through their filing journey and ensure that no credits or deductions are missed. If the claim/expense is not covered by the edition you are in, you will be automatically prompted to upgrade to the appropriate one.
