Can volunteers for a non-profit claim expenses on their tax return?

there are certain expenses incurred as the chair of a non-profit such as printing costs, travel expenses that i wonder if they can be used for a tax credit and/or deduction

Self-employed

Yes. However, the type of expenses incurred and the intention behind them are both important to take into consideration. If they do qualify, they would be recognized as a "gift" to the charity (for tax purposes), and therefore receiptable. Please see the following link to determine the eligibility of your expenses.
