Can I claim moving expenses if I moved out of Canada for a remote job that required me to move to the US? I am a deemed non-resident for the tax year.

Thank you for your question.
As per the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), you need to be a factual or deemed resident of Canada to be able to claim moving expenses.
You can claim eligible moving expenses for a move to or from Canada if both of the following apply:
- You are a full-time student (including co-operative student), or a factual or deemed resident of Canada
- You moved from the place where you ordinarily resided to live in another place where you ordinarily reside
For more helpful information about moving expenses, please see Line 21900 – Moving expenses: Where did you move? in the CRA's website.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
