Can I claim moving expenses if I moved over 40KM for a job that allows me to work from home full time? The company is in a different city than where I moved.

I was hired with the expectation that I would be working from home.  And moved to a new province to do so.  I moved from Toronto where the companie's main office is to New Brunswick.

The moving expenses are to move closer to work. Since you said you did not move closer to work it does not qualify.

You can claim eligible moving expenses if:

  • you moved and established a new home to work or run a business at a new location;

To qualify, your new home must be at least 40 kilometres (by the shortest usual public route) closer to your new work or school.
