Seniors and students
You can claim the cost of training courses in specific situations. Here's how to determine if you're eligible.
Eligible situations:
- Courses qualifying for the tuition credit:
- Attended a designated educational institution
- Received a T2202 slip for the fees
- Report in the Tuition and Education Amounts section
- Employer-required courses (for commission-based employees):
- Course required by your employer
- Not reimbursed for the expense
- Employer provided a signed T2200 form
- Report in the Employment Expenses section in the Other employment expenses field
- Self-employed individuals:
- Course related to your work
- Report where you enter your self-employment income
- T2125 in the Business, Professional, and Commission Income section
- T2121 in the Fishing Income section
- T2042 in the Farming Income section
