You need to fill out the T2205 if you meet both of the following conditions:
• you received an amount from a spousal/partner's RRSP, SPP or RRIF or your direct transfer from your spousal/partner's RRSPs to your FHSAs was considered to be a taxable withdrawal
• your spouse/partner made a contribution to a spousal/partner's RRSP or SPP for you either in the year you
received the amount or in the two preceding years

As the CRA considers you to have received an amount from the plan in the year it was deregistered. If you have received a withdrawal from your RRSP, RRIF, or SPP and your spouse or common-law partner made contributions to that plan in the year of withdrawal or in the two preceding years, you will need to complete Form 2205.
This form helps determine how much of the withdrawal must be included in income for tax purposes for both partners.
You only need Form 2205 if income tax was actually withheld on your RRIF (RIF) withdrawals.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
