My father passed away in November of 2018, but the CPP death benefit cheque is dated January of 2019. For which tax year do I claim the death benefit on my taxes?
Sorry for your loss. If the CPP Death Benefit was not issued until 2019, the T4A(P) slip you will receive will be dated 2019 and not reported until next year.
